Terms of Service

Last updated 31 August 2026

These terms cover the Histify Chrome extension and its companion web dashboard (together, "the Service"), operated by Histify. By installing the extension or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What the Service does

The Service reads the video IDs shown on your own YouTube watch history page, or the contents of your Liked Videos playlist, identifies which of them are music, and — when you ask it to — creates a YouTube playlist in your account and adds those tracks to it. It does not download, store, or redistribute any video or audio content.

2. Your account

You need a Google account with YouTube access, and you must be old enough to hold one (at least 13, or the minimum age in your country). You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only with YouTube accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and not to:

  • breach the YouTube Terms of Service or Google's policies;
  • attempt to bypass API quotas or rate limits, or otherwise place an unreasonable load on the Service;
  • resell, sublicense, or offer the Service to third parties as your own;
  • reverse engineer, probe, or interfere with the Service's security, or access other users' data.

We may suspend or terminate access that breaks these rules.

4. Dependence on YouTube, and quotas

The Service is built on the YouTube Data API and cannot work without it. That API has a fixed daily quota, and adding a track to a playlist is an expensive operation — in practice roughly 200 tracks can be added per day, after which playlist saves stop until the quota resets at midnight Pacific Time. A save can therefore complete only partially. YouTube may also change, restrict, or withdraw its API at any time, which may break features without notice. None of this is within our control.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or YouTube.

5. Availability

The Service is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime or of any particular result. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, and we may delete inactive accounts, at our discretion.

6. Your content

Videos, thumbnails, titles, and playlists remain the property of YouTube and the relevant rights holders. You keep whatever rights you have in your own data; you grant us only the permission needed to store and process it in order to operate the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. The Service's own code, name, and design remain ours.

7. Termination

You can stop at any time by disconnecting YouTube, uninstalling the extension, and deleting your account from settings. Deleting your account removes your stored tracks, playlist history, and YouTube tokens. Playlists already created in your YouTube account stay there — they belong to you, and you manage them on YouTube.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of the music classification, or uninterrupted operation. You use it at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, nor for lost data, lost playlists, exhausted API quota, or actions taken against your account by Google or YouTube. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Albania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
